以「马匹」作为战争资源，以及军队不屑于「间谍战」都是美式西部片的「传统道德」，在卧底盗马的故事线之外还有南北战争的「内鬼」支线，故事不可谓不丰满，不过加里库珀对于非粉丝观众而言，其「魅力」还是很难感受，只是充斥着各种美式精神的宣教。
